Information, not advice

  • Our guides describe how routes, permits and costs generally work. They are not a substitute for advice from a doctor about altitude, from an insurer about cover, or from an embassy about visas.
  • Nepal's roads, flights, permits and weather change quickly. Confirm anything time-sensitive with the authority, airline or operator before you commit money to it.
  • Trekking and adventure activities carry real risk, including of serious injury and death. Decisions on the ground are yours, or your guide's, and are made with information we cannot see from here.

News and sources

  • Every story starts from dated reports by named outlets. Those reports are listed and linked at the foot of each article.
  • We summarise what was reported and add our own planning guidance. We do not reproduce anyone's wording, and we do not claim first-hand reporting we did not do.
  • Casualty figures, official statements and statistics are only published when they appear in a cited source, and are attributed to that source.
  • Stories about disasters, casualties, crime or unrest carry no advertising and no sales pitch.
  • News is a snapshot. Anything you plan around should be confirmed with the authority, airline or operator concerned.

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it and say what changed. Corrections are made on the article itself with the update date shown. See our editorial policy for the full process.

Advertising and affiliate disclosure

  • This site carries third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Ads are selected by the ad network, not by us, and their presence is not an endorsement.
  • Some outbound links are partner links. If you buy through one, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Those links are labelled where they appear.
  • Commercial arrangements do not change what we recommend, and we do not accept payment to publish a favourable review.
  • We run no advertising, partner links or sales pitches on articles about disasters, casualties, crime or unrest.

How our articles are produced

We publish at volume, and we are open about how: drafts are assembled with automated tooling and published only after passing a quality gate that rejects thin, duplicated, unsourced or fabricated material. Routes, prices and conditions come from a working trekking operation in Pokhara. Where we are not confident, we say so on the page rather than inventing a number.
