Itinerary
Outline below; we tailor rest days and pacing to your group.
- 1
Day 1: Pokhara → Nayapul → Tikhedhunga (1,540 m)
Drive ~1.5 hours from Pokhara to Nayapul, the classic trek gateway. Begin trekking along the Modi Khola river through Birethanti and on to Tikhedhunga — a pleasant 4–5 hour walk through terraced farmland and subtropical forest. Overnight teahouse.
- 2
Day 2: Tikhedhunga → Ulleri → Ghorepani (2,850 m)
A memorable day: climb the famous stone staircase out of Ulleri, gaining nearly 1,300 m through dense oak and rhododendron forest. Ghorepani sits at the ridge with immediate views of Dhaulagiri — a stunning reward for the effort. Overnight at Ghorepani.
- 3
Day 3: Poon Hill sunrise (3,210 m) → Tadapani (2,630 m)
Rise before dawn (around 5:00 AM) and hike 45–60 minutes to Poon Hill for one of Nepal's most photographed sunrises — the golden light striking Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchhre is unforgettable. Return for breakfast, then trek through rhododendron forest to Tadapani. Overnight at Tadapani.
- 4
Day 4: Tadapani → Ghandruk (1,940 m)
Descend through forest to the large and beautifully preserved Gurung village of Ghandruk — Nepal's second-largest Gurung settlement. Explore the Gurung Museum, stone-paved lanes, and dramatic face-on views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Overnight in Ghandruk.
- 5
Day 5: Ghandruk → Nayapul → Pokhara
A final morning walk down through terraced fields and bamboo groves to the road at Syauli Bazaar or Kimche, then drive back to Pokhara. Arrive by early afternoon — time for Phewa Lake and a well-earned meal. Itinerary can be shortened or extended based on your schedule.
